Population
Nyandarua County has a child rich population where 0-14 year olds constitute 43% of the total population. However, the county is at the onset of a fertility decline as 43% of households have 0-3 household members.

The 2009 population and housing census covered in brief the labour status as tabulated below. The main variable of interest for inequality discussed in the text is work for pay by level of education. Sanitation
A total of 74% of residents in Nyandarua County use improved sanitation, while the rest use unimproved sanitation. Improved sanitation is mainly common in male headed households at 74% as compared with female headed households at 73%.
