While Kenya has registered remarkable economic performance, extreme poverty has not been eliminated and inequality has not only persisted but deepened. According to the UNDP 2010 report, the country is ranked 10th most unequal low income country in the world.
In response to the rapid political, economic and social changes taking place in East Africa and in the broader African continent, the State of East Africa Report Series (initiated in 2005) provides leaders, policy makers and citizens with information and insight about the region and the ongoing integration process. The series captures key changes facing the region and interrogates their drivers and implications.
The Africa Inequalities Portal is an online knowledge resource for inequality related issues from Africa. The portal holds a collection of journals, and digital documents related to inequalities issues from within the continent. The entire online repository is open access and available for free full-text download. A large portion of the digital documents are linked to their primary online source.
